American Kidney Fund Launches Podcast Series, Unveils New Podcast Webpage

Rockville, MD, March 17, 2009 -- Today, the American Kidney Fund (AKF) launched a kidney health podcast series and unveiled a dynamic new podcast webpage. The series will cover a wide variety of topics relating to kidney health, including preventing chronic kidney disease and understanding the financial impact of kidney disease.

The dedicated podcast webpage offers listeners an opportunity to enjoy the podcasts online and download them to an MP3 player or personal computer. The page also contains downloadable notes for the podcasts. The notes provide additional information and details on each featured topic.

"The launch of this podcast series is an exciting time for the American Kidney Fund. We take pride in being a credible, reliable source of kidney health information, and the podcasts allow us to provide information in a way that is easy and convenient," said American Kidney Fund President and Chief Executive Officer LaVarne A. Burton. "In addition to providing financial assistance to people with kidney disease, it is also our mission to empower everyone with important kidney health information, particularly those who are at risk for developing chronic kidney disease."

The premiere podcast, "An Overview of Chronic Kidney Disease", is an interview with LaVarne A. Burton. Now available on the American Kidney Fund website (www.kidneyfund.org), this podcast includes information about kidney function, general information about chronic kidney disease, and prevention and health tips.

In addition to the podcasts, the American Kidney Fund website provides numerous other information resources, including a free health information wallet card, fact sheets, and brochures. The website also provides information about free kidney screenings in Washington, D.C, Chicago, and Atlanta through the American Kidney Fund's Minority Intervention and Kidney Education (MIKE) program.
